The Whole Bloomin’ Thing
The feminine laid bare
Inspired by Margie Gillis’s iconic solo Bloom, The Whole Bloomin’ Thing brings to the stage the many facets of Molly Bloom, the free-spirited, untameable character from James Joyce’s novel Ulysses.
Each performer becomes Molly. Her impulses, desires, and contradictions flow through their bodies: one woman unfolds into a multitude of presences. With her interior monologues as a soundtrack, movement intertwines with words, carrying forward all they awaken. Molly’s thoughts on her community, love, and gender roles become living material to be felt and set free. From the intimate to the collective, the bodies give full expression to her “YES”: an affirmation of desire, freedom, and life.
